Dr Lawrence Kim

Dr Lawrence Kim, Urological Surgeon

MBChB MS FRACS (Urol)

Dr Lawrence Kim is an Australian-trained specialist urological surgeon with a subspecialty interest in urologic oncology (cancer). Lawrence received considerable training in all facets of uro-oncology.

Following completion of urology training in NSW he embarked on two years of overseas fellowship training.

Lawrence’s first fellowship was in advanced robotic surgery at Yonsei Severance Hospital in South Korea, the highest volume robotic surgery centre in the world. He was under the mentorship of Prof Koon Rha, a world renown leader in the field of robotic surgery, in particular Retzius-sparing radical prostatectomy.

Lawrence went on to undertake another fellowship at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, which is one of the few truly dedicated uro-oncology quaternary referral centres in the UK. He received extensive training in robotic surgery as well as a range of complex open uro-oncologic surgeries including advanced kidney cancer with caval thrombus and retroperitoneal lymph node dissection. Furthermore, he gained further appreciation of the importance of comprehensive multidisciplinary cancer care model and has adopted this approach in his clinical practice.

Lawrence is employed as a uro-oncologist at Westmead hospital and runs a multidisciplinary uro-oncology clinic.

He is also dedicated to clinical outcomes research and has contributed to advancements of various surgical techniques and outcomes.

Dr Kim is known for his friendly, and compassionate bedside manner and is committed to providing the utmost care and support to his patients and communities.
